The conflict erupted in 2020 in the northern regionals state of Ethiopian is still causing displacement for thousands of people.
So far, in Raya Kobo of North wollo zone of Amhara regional state alone estimated of 150,000 IDPs are registered.
According to the North Wollo Zone DRM office, there are more than 54,000 IDPs found sheltered in collective centers and others are in the host community.
Nonetheless, the number is expected to rise as the war continues in the border areas, and there is a plan to beneficiaries, 50 HH (5% of the total beneficiaries) with different physical disabilities have been included in the beneficiary assistant lists.
Accordingly, distribution of NFI materials for 1,000 HH in Raya Kobo town Dingay kulel and Millennium primary school sites from 28 February to 3 March 2022 was done.
Shewaye Aman is a 27 years old married woman. She has got 2 children.
She is now receiving the benevolent deeds of DPO in Raya Kobo Millennium school site. Shewaye came to the site two months ago from Waja (Raya Alamata). Shewaye explained:
“As you see I have a physical disability. My half body is paralyzed due to a sickness that happened 2 years ago. Before the distribution of the NFI kits I was sleeping on open floor, and it was cold, and my health problem is worsening. But now thanks to you and this organization our problem is improved now I have a mat and blanket to use when I sleep’’.
When the conflict ends, Shewaye wishes to return home where she can work and live safely.
Not only Shewaye other beneficiaries who are found in Raya Kobo Millennium school site also expressed gratitude for DPO.
In addition government officials also appreciated the intervention saying it is timely and very essential.
