Development for Peace Organization (DPO) obtained acknowledgment for the successful accomplishment of a project entitled “Multi-Sectorial Integrated Emergency Responses to Drought and Conflict Affected Households” in Gewane woreda of Afar Region.
In a project closing event took place on August 11 & 12 /2022, various stake holders drawn from GOAL Ethiopia, MCMDO Ethiopia and government officials of Afar regional state noted that DPO is able to perform remarkable activities for the past nine months ( from 30th November 2021 to 31st of July 2022).
Its intervention in areas of Reducing the Risk of GBV, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programs and distribution of dignity kits for women and girls among others benefited the community a lot they uttered.
DPO’s Afar regional state project coordinator Teshome Girma said the achievements are the manifestation of the existence of robust cooperation where which GOAL Ethiopia, numerous governmental offices of Afar regional state and other actors demonstrated.
With regards to ensuring the sustainability of the achievements gained Development For Peace Organization (DPO) gives due emphasis Mr. Teshome indicated.
“Establishing good rapport with government stakeholders, the attention given to the need for gender inclusiveness, the involvement of beneficiaries throughout the implementation of the project would ensure the sustainability of the projects” he underlined.
Although DPO saw challenges such as; the existence of insecurity, frequent interruption of electric power, price escalation on fuel and some other essential items, intermittent dropping of internet connection and delay in the start-up of the project, notable lesson obtained Mr. Teshome told the participants.
The participants of the event also expressed their enthusiasm to collaborate with DPO.
GOAL Ethiopia Protection and Safeguarding Advisor Geta Kassa for his part indicated that the activities brought notable achievements particularly for women and children.
