DPO Provided Agricultural Inputs to 871 Conflict-Affected Households in Tigray

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) in partnership with HELVETAS provided agricultural input, specifically wheat seed, to 871 conflict-affected households in Samere woreda of Tigray region. The early recovery humanitarian project was launched in late April to rebuild the livelihoods of households affected by conflict. Swiss Solidarity provided funding for the project through HELVETAS.

The project aims to support conflict-affected households by providing agricultural input and multi-purpose cash assistance to help them get back to their farming practice for the upcoming rainy season. The provision of wheat seed is a significant contribution towards rebuilding the community’s agriculture activity, which has been severely impacted by the conflict. The total target for the provision of agricultural input is 3100 households in the two woredas of Samere and Tselemti; this is the first round of distribution. The project will also have multi-purpose cash assistance (MPC) to selected households.

Through this project, DPO and HELVETAS aim to empower conflict-affected households to engage in sustainable farming practices and rebuild their livelihoods in the long term. The support from Swiss Solidarity is essential in funding the project efforts and enabling humanitarian organizations to provide necessary aid to those affected by the conflict.
