Project Launching with UNICEF

DPO held a joint project launching jointly with GDA for UNICEF funded projects in East and West Harargie zones of Oromia region.

DPO and GDA, launched their respective UNICEF-funded projects for Emergency Response to Child Protection in Conflict Contexts. DPO will implement the project in the East and West Harargie zones, while GDA will be responsible for the Horro Gudru Wollega zone in Oromia regions.

The launching event was attended by UNICEF country office and Oromia field operations officials and government representatives from the Oromia Finance and Women and Children Affairs Bureau. The project will use a collaborative approach to address the complex needs of children, particularly girls, and women in conflict-affected areas.

The protection project activities will include support in case management, strengthening referral system, capacity building of local structures, establishment of safe spaces for children and adolescent girls to access psychosocial support and life-saving services, sensitization training to key stakeholders, and provision of survivors support such as legal and psycho-social support.

The DPO and GDA teams will independently implement similar projects at different locations, but will exchange lessons learned and best practices to improve the effectiveness of their interventions. The two organizations are looking forward to making a positive impact on the lives of children and survivors of GBV in conflict-affected areas.
